The Power of the Gospel

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes… For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. ~ Romans 1:16-17

The gospel is God’s power at work, bringing salvation to everyone who believes. It unveils a continual revelation of God’s righteousness – a perfect righteousness given freely to us when we place our trust in Christ.

Through the gospel, we move from merely receiving life by faith to actually living by faith. It shifts us from believing in ideas, traditions, or our own efforts to believing in God alone for righteousness. This is the explosive, life-transforming faith of the gospel: we enter true life through faith, and in that faith, we stand right with God.

We should never be ashamed of this extraordinary message. It is God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts Him. His way of making people right with Himself is revealed in every act of faith, and as we trust Him, we discover what it means to truly live.

God does not choose us because we deserve it; He chooses us out of His love and mercy. He prepares and teaches us, not to play favorites, but so that we can tell the world about His plan of salvation. He calls us to live according to His moral truth and to obey Him wholeheartedly.

Sometimes we forget His promises and requirements. We need discipline to stay focused, but when we trust Christ, our relationship with God is made right. He declares us righteous by faith – by faith alone.

Thoughtful Reflection

The gospel of Christ has life-changing power. When we fix our eyes on Him and what He is doing, we will never be ashamed or embarrassed. We will live boldly, proclaiming His righteousness and His salvation to the world.
