Peace With God

“Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1

God declares us flawless in His eyes because of His grace. Through Christ, we have abundant peace and well-being, anchored in a perfect relationship with Him. By faith, we enter into what God has always desired for us – to set us right with Himself and make us fit for His presence. Because of Christ, we can truly have it all together with God.

This peace is not merely the absence of conflict or trouble. Peace with God is an active, vibrant life of participating in His work in creation. It is not a subtraction from us – it is an addition, an intensification, an overflow of life beyond what we could ever generate on our own. It enlarges us.

When we have peace with God, we can also experience peace within ourselves and extend peace to others. We live with an alert expectancy, always watching for what God will do next. This expectancy never leaves us feeling shortchanged or disappointed.

We feel the comforting presence of Christ, but we also feel the daily pressures of a fallen world. We know that life’s pressures develop patient endurance within us. Endurance refines our character, and that refined character gives birth to hope – a hope that does not disappoint. While we are already complete in Christ, we are also continually growing in Him. Our acceptance before God is secure, yet He is shaping us to become more and more like Jesus.

Thoughtful Reflection

We must overcome until we become. Through every difficulty, God is building our character to reflect His own. We enjoy the peace of God even as we face the problems that help us grow.
