In the Waiting

“And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.” – Exodus 3:2
God doesn’t prepare us for our purpose in a moment—He develops us over time. Moses didn’t step into his calling overnight. Decades passed before the moment at the burning bush. Just like him, we are often shaped not by an event, but by a process.
God uses the slow cooker, not the microwave. While we wait, He is doing deep and necessary work within us. He builds endurance, widens our perspective, and matures our character. What may feel like delay is often divine preparation. The hidden seasons, the desert places, the years that seem unfruitful—God uses them all. These are the proving grounds for the soul.
God prepares us in obscurity so we can stand in authority. The desert becomes our classroom. The silence becomes the training ground for our ears to hear Him. Even our past—the privilege of education, our life experiences, and even our failures—are all ingredients God uses to equip us for the assignment ahead.
“Then Moses said, ‘I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.’” – Exodus 3:3
Many of us are simply going about our everyday routines—away from influence, removed from the spotlight—when God meets us. He speaks in ways we least expect, from places we might overlook. Our burning bush moments often interrupt the ordinary. They challenge our understanding and awaken a holy curiosity.
God doesn’t speak through manipulation, force, or abstraction. He comes personally. He humbles Himself to meet us where we are, and in doing so, sends us to speak for Him. But we must be willing to turn aside—to notice, to listen, to investigate when God draws near.

Thoughtful Reflection
In the waiting, in the wilderness, in the unexpected—God is getting us ready. He speaks to those who are willing to see and open to respond.
